> Istanbul is covered by an extensive network of buses. There are two types of buses in Istanbul. İETT buses are run by the municipality. The 'halk' or 'public' buses are privately owned. To ride on an İETT bus, you need a ticket or an Akbil magnetic pass. Tickets can be purchased from ticket offices, newsagents and street vendors. On a public bus, you pay your fare when you board.
> The 'Hızlı Tramvay' (Rapid Tramway) runs between Eminönü-Zeytinburnu, the 'Hafif Metro' (Light Rail Train) runs between Aksaray-Yenibosna, while the 'Metro' runs between Taksim-4th Levent.
> Ferryboats cross the Bosphorus from various points on the European and Asian sides. There is scheduled ferryboat service every day to the Prince's Islands from Eminönü, Bostancı and Kadıköy. In addition, there is a high-speed Sea Bus service between the two sides as well as to the Islands, but it is more expensive.
> Both the European and Asian banks have train services to the suburbs. These leave from Haydarpaşa station on the Asian shore and Sirkeci Train station on the European shore. Trains to other destinations in Turkey leave from Haydarpaşa while trains to Europe leave from Sirkeci.
