Hello again from the waters of the deep blue sea! As you may remember, I have had some good news to share with you over the past few months. Sadly, this month the news is not so good. As you know, my SAD-AFAG friends work hard to educate the public where we live. They are striving to gain the support of the people in their effort to save not only the Mediterranean monk seal but all the creatures that live in the sea. They also conduct field research near our caves. They have accomplished a great deal since they began their efforts 16 years ago.
Tragically, they have run out of funds. They may have to bring an end to all their worthwhile activities in a few months. And just when everything was going so well! They were finally beginning to reap the fruits of all their labours. The SAD-AFAG had started to work together with fishermen and had greatly reduced the number of seal deaths. But they haven't lost hope.
They still believe that theirs is a worthy cause and that they will find the funding that they need. After all, over the past few months, many people have taken part in the "adopt a seal" program. Maybe people do still care. That's why I am writing to you this month. Maybe you know some people who would like to adopt a seal. Or maybe you would like to help. Let's make sure that their 16 years of hard work don't go to waste. I am not going to lose my faith in miracles.
