Davidoff: The Good Life
Davidoff is a legend in the world of cigars. And the magic behind the brand is Zino Davidoff: "Smoke less, but better and longer - make a cult of it, a philosophy!" Now some tips from Davidoff on the art of smoking a cigar.
The art of selection: Selecting a cigar is always a personal choice. It is personal taste alone which decides. The individual preference for an aroma; for a fragrance.

The cigar band:
Decoration and protection at once. Should one remove it or leave it on Zino Davidoff was in favor of leaving the band on the cigar until the first third had been smoked. In this way, one would not damage the delicate wrapping leaf..

Cutting the end:
Cutting the end off a cigar requires special care. The delicacy and intensity of the aroma can only unfold through an accurate cut, one which is in proportion to the thickness of the cigar. Each cigar-connoisseur takes great care over the size of the opening, as this will ensure that drawing on the cigar is easy and it burns down evenly. Lighting: A cigar should always be lit using a short flame. Hold the open end of the cigar about one centimeter above the flame and turn the cigar until it begins to glow evenly. Only then - and never before - should one enjoy the first puff. A good cigar deserves extra-long, slow-burning, sulphur-free matches, or odorless gas lighters.

The moment:
A cigar deserves undivided attention. It is not something for when one is in a hurry. Two or three cigars a day, enjoyed at the right time, give real pleasure.

Storing:
Just as a good wine is sensitive, a good cigar is too. It needs to be kept in a place where it will be protected against fluctuations in temperature and humidity, where it isn't exposed to odours or the light. Anyone who doesn?t have his own cigar cellar would be best advised to get a humidor.
