What is your opinion of how Galatasaray have been playing in the first four weeks?
I am very happy with their performance but they can do better. But we are on the right path and are getting stronger every day. I believe that everyone is enjoying watching the team play, which makes me happy.
You have been called crazy for adopting an attack-oriented philosophy. Is this risky?
We have always believed in taking the offensive. You can't succeed without taking risks. People can think what they want about me. They can call me crazy. We will score more goals than we lose. I am a brave man and I won't let Galatasaray play a cowardly game.
What will Heinz bring to the team?
He is a great midfielder and free-kicker. I really needed him, and I am grateful to the management. If Heinz and Ilic play as well as they did in their own countries, they will do wonders for the team.
Could Heinz upset the balance of the team?
Everyone on the team gets along very well and treats each other with respect. Nothing can change this. I won't let it happen.
Fatih Terim and Hagi had major problems with the management. How do you get along with them?
We haven't had any problems. We all want Galatasaray to be successful. Everyone is doing their best to make this happen. I don't envisage any future problems.
How did you inspire Hasan Sas and Umit Karan to play better than last season?
They are great football players. It is my job to motivate them. And they haven't let me down. I am very happy with Hasan's performance and he will do even better.
For years, people have talked about the factions in Galatasaray. How have you managed to unify the team?
We have created a good team spirit. If everyone shows each other the necessary support and respect we could end the season with 4-5 more points. We are a family now, and no one can tear us apart.
How do you rate Galatasaray's chances at UEFA and in the championship?
Our aim is to enter the group phase in the UEFA Cup. To do this, we have to knock out Tromso. We have the power to achieve all our aims. Galatasaray is used to winning. We want to bring the eagerly awaited championship home to our fans.
