Hello everyone! Spring is finally here. As the weather warm up, nature starts to wake up! Grey winter is replaced by the colours of spring. And I have some wonderful news to share with you! I read it in the "Seal Gazette". This is a very popular newspaper with us seals.
My friends at the SAD-AFAG have made a documentary starring us seals! It is called "Mediterranean". It has been shown at many seminars. People have learned a lot about both us and the SAD-AFAG thanks to the documentary. Well, "Mediterranean" is going to be shown on CNN Turk four times in 2004! This is great news for us. More people will learn about our problems and maybe they will want to help.
And now for my second piece of news. The Turkish Sailing Federation and the Foça Sailing Club are organising the Federation Cup Optimist Race in conjunction with the SAD-AFAG from April 22-25. This will strengthen the SAD-AFAG?s standing in Foça. But they are looking for a sponsor for the race. The race will last four days. 150 people are expected to take part, 120 of them in the competition. There will be races every day as well as slide shows, marine documentary screenings, a Children?s Ball on April 23 plus music recitals and an award ceremony.
My third and last piece news is that I have been chosen Europe?s cutest animal in a competition held by the WWF! Isn't that great! I hope it will increase interest in us. If you want to learn more about how to save the Mediterranean monk seal, contact the SAD-AFAG.
