Hello again everyone
This past month, I've been thinking about all the terrible things that people do to animals. Why are they so mean to us? Why do they want to kill us? No one seems to care about nature anymore. So many species are in danger of disappearing or are already extinct. I wish that people could get away from their cities and live in the wild like I do. Then they'd understand the harm they are doing. Every single creature, whether great and small, is affected by this. There is enough space in the blue oceans, clear skies and green forests for all the animals, birds and fish in the world. We have to learn to share the planet with each other. Otherwise, the future doesn't look very bright for any of us, including you humans.
Why am I saying all this, I hear you ask. Well, I have some very sad news to share with you. A monk seal friend of mine from Izmir Mordogan was viciously killed. It is hard enough for our mothers to find a quiet cave to give birth. If we are lucky enough to be born, many of us die in fishermen's nets. Why do you have to kill the few of us who survive?
The fishermen kill us because of depleted fish stocks. In fact, the areas that my friends at the AFAG have closed off to fishing are teeming with fish. Still, we Mediterranean monk seals are slowly disappearing. We used to live in the Black Sea, but now none remain there. If we can't live in the Mediterranean or the Aegean, there won't be anywhere else for us to go. At the beginning of a new year, I would like to make a wish. I wish for a safe year where we can all learn to share the planet with each other.
