My dear friends,
Last autumn was such a beautiful time of year, particularly as this is when baby seals are born! This year, we expect there to be a huge number of baby seals. This is great news, but it means that we need even more help to protect us seals and our habitat.
This month, my friends at the AFAG have been busy as usual giving seminars and educating the public about Mediterranean monk seals. The AFAG held a meeting with the Ankara University Biology Club (BIYOT). The event began with an introduction to the AFAG's aims and its work towards providing a safe habitat for Mediterranean monk seals and ended with a screening of the "Akdenizli" documentary. The AFAG and BIYOT hope to work together on other projects in the future.
Secondly, the AFAG gave a presentation to 143 children at the Ankara TED College Primary School. The introductory film proved to be a big hit with students and teachers alike. Let's hope that the kids will go home and share their experience with their parents and maybe even persuade them to adopt a Mediterranean monk seal!
The events and activities organised by the AFAG have helped raise awareness of the plight of the Mediterranean monk seal among people of all ages and backgrounds. As a result, many people have joined the "adopt a seal" program. You too can help protect the future of us Mediterranean monk seals by contacting the AFAG.
