Our monthly letter from Sleepyhead, The Gate's Mediterranean monk seal adopted via the SAD-AFAG (Underwater Research Society-Mediterranean Seal Research Group):I hope you are enjoying this beautiful time of year. As you know, my friends at the SAD-AFAG work tirelessly to keep Turkey's shores clean and to protect us Mediterranean monk seals. The Underwater Research Society (SAD) celebrated its 10th anniversary in December 2004. In addition to its joint work with the Mediterranean Seal Research Group, SAD is involved with many other projects related to protecting Turkey's natural treasures. On the occasion of SAD's 10th anniversary, president Murat Draman would like to address a few words to you.
''We at SAD feel honoured and privileged to be a part of saving our environment. In addition to our work with the AFAG, we have established the 'Underwater Days', a platform for students, academicians and lovers of the sea to come together and share their passion for all things underwater. We have watched with great pride and interest the work of the MADAG Cave Diving Group, the SAAG Underwater Archaeology Research Group and the BAG Shipwreck Research Group. Above all, we are grateful to our sponsors who dig deep into their pockets every month. Not to mention our hard working staff at our Ankara office. We at SAD look forward to another ten years of protecting our lovely shore. We invite you to set sail and join us on our voyage of discovery!''
